LASG MONITORING TEAM DISLODGES ILLEGAL OCCUPANTS OF LEKKI FORESHORE DEVELOPMENT SCHEME

The Monitoring Team of the Lagos State Government in a bid to stop indiscriminate evacuation and carting away of sand meant for construction purposes dislodged some illegal miners and occupiers of the proposed development site of Lekki Foreshore Scheme where all illegal structures within the scheme were removed.

The Permanent Secretary, Lands Bureau, Mr. Bode Agoro who led the team frowned at the wanton disregard and encroachment of miners and illegal occupiers of approved government proposed site, assuring that government will not fold its hands and watch it schemes defaced but will instead take drastic action against such illegal occupancy.

The Acting General Manager New Towns Development Authority (NTDA), Tpl. Olakunle Aboyeji said he could not believe the level at which people will go to discredit the state government by stealing what is meant to be for the commonwealth of the populace for the purpose of satisfying the greed of a select few.

He lamented that the sand which the miners were carting away was designated for the development of Lekki Foreshore Scheme which was necessary to enable allotees have access and take possession of their land.

He said the activities of the illegal squatters on the scheme was an eyesore and their presence was harbouring miscreants who perpetrates all manner of unlawful acts, adding that anybody caught contravening the law in this regard will face the wrath of the law.

He explained that the on-going monitoring exercise was going to be a continuous one to ensure the safety of government property in all sites across the state.

The joint visit who was led by the Permanent Secretary, Lands Bureau; Mr. Bode Agoro with the General Manager New Towns Development Authority (NTDA); Tpl. Olakunle Aboyeji and the Governors Monitoring Team (GMT)
